Reflection September 2025

Hello, from my desk once again…

I return to this conversation we left open last month. Back then, I told you that you are a bearer of seeds. And today, more than ever, that statement carries even greater meaning. Every time you choose to sow with awareness, you are helping to create a forest of possibilities.

Amid the chaos, the noise, the uncertainty—whether personal or collective—we need to remember our place on this Earth. And let me tell you something very important: you are not here by accident.

It is vital that we see and recognize ourselves as an opportunity for others. An opportunity for someone to hear wise advice. An opportunity to simply be present, even in silence. An opportunity for someone to feel accompanied, seen, and above all, valued. An opportunity to plant seeds of hope that guide others toward a better tomorrow.

Today I want to encourage you to do something simple yet profound: look someone in the eyes and remind them of their worth and importance. Show up for someone’s need. And remember, we don’t have to wait until we have a lot to give; you already carry within you the essence of what many need.

A sincere hug, a smile, a gentle look, a “I’m sorry,” a “I’m here,” or even shared silence—these are small acts that can transform realities. They are keys that open hearts and sow love.
Do not underestimate the power of an authentic gesture. Sometimes, that is all someone needs to believe again.

Together, we made a difference

Our suicide prevention event for AFSP Puerto Rico Chapter, was a reminder that hope grows when we come together.

To the survivors — thank you for showing us that light can shine after the darkest nights.

To the volunteers — thank you for your hearts, your time, and your commitment.

To those who shared their lived experiences — thank you for proving that every story has the power to save lives.

Every hug, every word, every step was a declaration: you are not alone.

Remember: if you or someone you know is struggling, dial 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Your life matters.

Facing Fear: A Path Toward Growth and Strength

Fear is a natural human response. It shows up in our bodies as tension, in our minds as doubt, and in our hearts as hesitation. Sometimes it whispers quietly, other times it feels overwhelming. While fear often tries to protect us, it can also hold us back from living fully.

The truth is, fear doesn’t always mean “stop.” More often, it means pay attention. Fear highlights the areas of our lives where growth is waiting. It signals the places where courage is needed, and where healing can take root.

At Hispanic Family Counseling, we believe that facing fear with support can transform it into an opportunity for growth. Therapy and counseling provide a safe space to talk about fears, to learn coping strategies, and to discover the strength within you.

Acknowledge Your Fear

The first step is to name it. Pretending it isn’t there only makes it stronger. When you say: “I am afraid of failing,” or “I am afraid of being alone,” you begin to reclaim your power. Naming your fear creates distance between who you are and what you feel.

Learn From It

Fear often points toward areas of growth. If you are afraid of speaking up, it may be because your voice is ready to be heard. If you are afraid of change, it may be because something new is calling you. What if fear is not a wall, but a door?

Take Small Steps

Courage does not mean being fearless. It means acting in spite of fear. Every small step you take toward what you long for weakens fear’s grip and strengthens your confidence.

Support Matters

When fear feels overwhelming, reach out. Talking with someone you trust, seeking professional guidance, or sharing your experience in community can bring light into dark places. Fear loses strength when it is not carried alone. At HFC, our team of professionals is here to walk with you.

Remember Your Power

You are more than your fear. Within you, there is resilience, wisdom, and love. Fear may visit, but it does not define you. Each time you choose presence, kindness, and courage, you grow stronger.

🌟 Closing Thought
Fear will always try to remind us of our limits, but life invites us to expand beyond them. The next time fear appears, pause, breathe, and ask yourself: “What is the opportunity hidden here?” You may discover that on the other side of fear, there is freedom.
