Reflection August 2025
From my desk once again…
I’m picking up with you on this conversation we left open last month. I remember telling you something then that’s worth repeating: You deserve your time.
Time to speak to yourself kindly, to enjoy who you are, to breathe, to be grateful… and to simply be you.
Today, I want to invite you to pause for a moment. Take a deep breath. Join me in this brief but meaningful reflection.
Recently, I came across a phrase hanging from a tree that completely captured my attention: “Plant a tree and you will be sowing awareness.”
I found it profoundly symbolic.
The word awareness, in its most essential sense, means “shared knowledge.” But it also holds other meanings worth exploring:
Knowledge of oneself
Knowledge of one’s surroundings
The ability to discern between right and wrong
Being alert, present
This phrase made me picture myself as someone who plants seeds that will one day become trees. I may not always see them grow, but I fully trust that they will.
And then I thought of you.
You may wonder: What does this have to do with me? What seeds can I plant?
Start with the deepest and most beautiful: knowing yourself.
Because when you know yourself, you begin to see your surroundings more clearly. And that clarity allows you to discern what is fair, healthy, and true—for you and for those around you.
That is living with awareness. That is being alert.
We sow each time we consciously choose where to give our attention and what to let go of. We sow when we share from love, from hope, from gratitude.
And believe me, these three seeds—love, hope, and gratitude—are more than enough to transform a world. Your world. And perhaps, without realizing it, also the world of others.
Remember this: You are a bearer of seeds. And every time you choose to sow with awareness, you are helping create a forest of possibilities—one that will grow even if you are not always there to see it bloom.

From Awareness to Appreciation: How Gratitude Grows Our Well-being
Gratitude is more than a polite “thank you.” It’s a way of living—a choice to pause, notice, and appreciate the moments, people, and opportunities that give our lives meaning. When we make gratitude a daily practice, it can transform our perspective, helping us focus less on what is missing and more on what is already present and abundant.
Why Gratitude is a Powerful Seed
Gratitude shifts our attention from scarcity to abundance. It reminds us that even in challenging times, there is beauty to be found and appreciated. Practicing gratitude nurtures our mental and emotional well-being, much like watering a seed. Over time, those small acts of appreciation grow into something strong, vibrant, and life-giving.
Research has shown that gratitude can:
Reduce stress and anxiety
Strengthen relationships
Increase resilience during difficult times
Simple Ways to Practice Gratitude Every Day
Gratitude doesn’t require big moments—it’s often the smallest seeds that create the deepest roots.
Start a Gratitude Journal – Each day, write down three things you are grateful for, whether they’re big milestones or simple pleasures.
Express It Out Loud – Tell someone you appreciate them and why. Sincere words can uplift both you and the person receiving them.
Pause and Notice – Take a moment in your day to observe something beautiful—a smile, a sound, a sunset.
End with Gratitude – Before bed, reflect on one good thing that happened during the day and hold onto that feeling as you rest.
Planting Gratitude in Our Community
Gratitude is contagious. A kind word to a teacher, a thank-you to a co-worker, or an acknowledgment to someone serving your community can brighten their day and inspire them to pass it on. These small gestures help create a culture of kindness and connection.
Your Forest of Gratitude
Think of each expression of gratitude as planting a seed. You may not see the tree it becomes, but trust that it will take root somewhere. Over time, these seeds can grow into a forest of positivity and resilience, offering shelter and hope to many.
So today, pause for a moment. Notice something good. Appreciate it fully. Plant that seed of gratitude—and watch how it grows, in your life and in the lives you touch.
