Reflection May 2025
What a joy to speak to you again!
Speak to you? Yes—speak to you from my desk… it’s as if we’re face to face, having a conversation every month. You might remember that last month, I ended our conversation with these words:
“Value yourself just as you are, love yourself just as you are! Don’t forget, you are part of the great display of colors of this season and the ones to come. The colors of this season are nature’s laughter inviting you to enjoy and laugh along with her. Without you, it wouldn’t be the same!”
Today, I want to ask you:
Did you identify with a color?
Did you see yourself as part of those colors that bring this season to life?
Did you take a moment to reflect on how much you love and value yourself?
Have you come to understand that without you, this world wouldn’t be the same?
If you haven’t done so yet, I invite you to take 5 or 6 minutes to reflect on it.
And maybe you’re wondering: Why so much insistence?
Because the more you truly know and love yourself, the more you can invite—and even guide—others to see their own worth and to love themselves simply for who they are, not for what they do.
How wonderful it would be if we could all know and love ourselves just as we are! Can you imagine it?
So today I encourage you to meditate on yourself.
Focus on your value.
Focus on how important you are.
Recognize that you are unique and unrepeatable.
Accept that you are an essential part of this world.
Once you do, you’ll begin to see others—with all their imperfections—and love them the way you’ve learned to love yourself.
You see? You are the key. You are the change. That’s why I insist: without you, the world wouldn’t be the same.

May Is Mental Health Awareness Month – Let’s Grow Together as Families
May is a beautiful reminder that healing is possible—and it starts with conversations, connection, and care.
In our Hispanic culture, family is everything. We share meals, traditions, music, and laughter. But sometimes, behind the smiles, there’s stress, anxiety, or sadness that goes unspoken. It’s okay. Life can be overwhelming—but we don’t have to face it alone.
Mental health is about thriving, not just surviving. It’s about learning to pause, breathe, and ask: How am I really doing? It’s about creating safe spaces at home where our children, partners, and elders feel seen and heard.
Today’s world moves fast—technology, work, school, responsibilities. It’s easy to forget that our emotional well-being is just as important as any to-do list. When we take care of our minds, we strengthen our families.
At Hispanic Family Counseling, we’re here to walk beside you. Whether it’s through therapy, support groups, or simple tools to navigate everyday stress, we believe in your strength, your culture, and your ability to grow.
5 Simple Ways to Support Mental Health at Home:
Talk openly and often.
Check in with your family members regularly—even a simple “How are you feeling today?” can make a big difference.Practice family self-care.
Go for a walk together, cook a healthy meal, or take a technology break as a family. Moments of rest bring everyone closer.Create space for emotions.
Let children and teens express how they feel without judgment. Naming emotions helps release them.Stay connected to your roots.
Music, traditions, storytelling, and spirituality are powerful tools for emotional resilience.Ask for help when needed.
Therapy is not only for crises—it's for growth, clarity, and emotional strength.
This May, let’s break the stigma and open the door to healing—together.
Because when one family member heals, we all grow stronger.
